Education and FKS

Formula Kart Stars endeavours to support competitors who are in full time education to compete with as minimal disruption to their studies as possible by interaction with their schools and providing educational support through our dedicated trackside classroom.

Further strengthening our educational offering, a new partnership with F1 in Schools was announced in 2014 brining selected elements of the industry leading F1 in Schools engineering curriculum to FKS karters in 2015.

The engineering workshops will be available to all FKS drivers, and will take place in a purpose built mobile classroom which will be trackside at all FKS events. The workshops will not only teach drivers the fundamentals of engineering but will both assist their understanding of karting set-up as well as further their potential career opportunities in motorsport.

F1 in Schools, founded by Andrew Denford in 1999, is now a well-established international competition for school children aged 9-19 with the aim of introducing them to engineering in a fun environment by tasking them to design and manufacture a miniature car.  Although different content to that of Formula Kart Stars, the programme is fully supported by Mr Ecclestone and Formula One Management, providing a natural partnership.

Andrew Denford, Founder and Chairman, F1 in Schools, is happy to be working with FKS next season: “F1 in Schools has an obvious synergy with Formula Kart Stars, not only with both sharing the support of Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One Management, but also in the aims of nurturing young talent to achieve their potential. We’re very pleased to be linking with FKS and assisting with the education aspects of the Series. Through our curriculum materials and integration into the new Engineering qualification we will be able to offer FKS competitors a learning opportunity which is relevant to their racing activities and their schooling.”

“Addressing our competitors educational requirements has always been part of the ethos of Formula Kart Stars, and is something which Mr Ecclestone and Formula One Management have always strongly supported” said FKS Chairman Carolynn Hoy.  “In 2015 we will be further developing on the Learning Bus that was utilised in previous seasons, and introducing a new dedicated trailer converted into a fully equipped classroom. We are very pleased to announce that F1 in Schools will be working closely with Formula Kart Stars to assist in providing the academic content, and look forward to further helping our competitors to develop both on track and academically”.
