Senior Rotax drivers in the Formula Kart Stars Championship will be racing in front of TV cameras at Glan Y Gors in the seventh and eighth Challenge events of 2012 this coming weekend as TV Presenter and racing driver Vicki Butler-Henderson joins the grid.

Butler-Henderson will be pitting her abilities against the Senior Rotax drivers in the Formula One Management backed Championship for an upcoming episode of the popular Channel 5 motoring show Fifth Gear, which Butler-Henderson co-presents and while she is currently best known for her TV exploits, she also boasts an impressive racing CV of her own having raced karts against the likes of David Coulthard in her youth.

FKS Championship Director Carolynn Hoy is understandably pleased to have Butler-Henderson join the Senior Max field at Glan Y Gors as it will give added publicity to the Championship just one week after Sky Sports News aired a series of video packages on the previous two rounds of the championship at Larkhall in Scotland.

“This is a great opportunity to further expose karting to the general public and we are very excited to have Vicki Butler-Henderson and the Fifth Gear team joining us at Glan Y Gors,” said Hoy, who recently dusted off her own race suit to drive one of the late Martin Hines’ fearsome 250cc Zip Yamaha Superkarts up the famous Goodwood hill climb course.

“Anyone who has watched Fifth Gear will know that this is no publicity stunt and that Vicki can really drive,” continued Hoy. “I expect her to be right in there mixing it with the regular drivers and I have a feeling her pace will surprise more than a few people.”

The Championship heads to the picturesque North Wales venue following an action packed few weeks, having exhibited at the Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside Official Championship Partner TAG Heuer, supported the Henry Surtees Brooklands Team Challenge and visited the British Grand Prix with 12 FKS drivers as part of their Bernie Ecclestone Driver of the Day award.

Nestling in the Snowdonia foothills Glan Y Gors promises to provide some excellent racing, and FKS will add to the growing list of award winners from its bumper 248 prizes available this season from the likes of TAG Heuer, Silverstone Circuit, Teng Tools & Formula BMW.
