The second half of the Formula Kart Stars season began on a cool, overcast and occasionally wet day at Glan Y Gors in North Wales. In their own words some of the drivers reveal who had a warm welcome in the hillside and who had a day as tough as a week-old lamb chop.
Sam Marsh – Junior Max 4th
“It was fairly average, it was wet for qualifying and the set-up was horrendous, I think all of us [in the team] were struggling and we qualified tenth. In the heats we salvaged sixth place and started sixth for the final and got a fourth, maybe we could have got third but number ten tagged me going down to the Carousel which gave him third.”
Josh White – Junior Max 5th
“It didn’t go so well.”
Josh Collings – Senior Max 2nd
“It went really well. Obviously Ryan Norris was really fast and I just tried to stay with him the whole race and tried to take him at the end but couldn’t quite manage it.”
Rory Hudson – Cadet Honda 3rd
“Elliott Harvey led it for most of it. I tried a couple of moves but he always got me back and on the last lap I was in fourth and never got enough time to get second but I beat Jean Sammut to get third so it wasn’t too bad.”
Connor McCarthy – Cadet Honda 6th
“It wasn’t that good. I think I was about 10th.”
Lando Norris – Mini Max 2nd
“It was quite tough because we didn’t quite have the pace. It was a really hard race because the kart was really sliding but I still scored a good result with second so I got good points for the championship and I think I extended my lead which was even better.”
Connor Mills – Mini Max 3rd
“It was a good race, but I can’t really remember it that well but I managed to gain a few positions from ninth and get third and get some good points for the championship.”
