Fond farewells and warm welcomes to the new FKS Clerking and trackside team.

Farewells to:

Nigel and Carolynn “Stars on Tour at Las Vegas Speedway Bowl”

Nigel Edwards has been the Chief Clerk and Director of Race for Formula Kart Stars and has flown the flag for the Championship for about 10 years. A Hugely respected Clerk within karting and now also in the world of cars, Nigel brought calm authority to many a delicate situation with his sense of fair play. His intimidating height I’m sure also helped, but as an ex racer he understands the pressure and emotions involved and he was often able to sooth and defuse situations when those emotions ran high. Formula Kart Stars UK bids Nigel a fond farewell and all our very best wishes.

Hannah and Shoes!!!!

Hannah Edwards brought a bit of light hearted whackiness to the counter, just what was needed when tensions in the paddock run high. Assistant to Debbie she was  the young face of FKS and the object of desire for all our young drivers! We will certainly miss her. A fond farewell.

Pip Playforth

We also say goodbye to Pip and Jean Playforth. Pip brought a wealth of experience to the Championship and as Nigel’s Deputy, they made a formidable team. Also a successful racer, Pip enjoyed working with the youngsters.

Jean Playforth

Jean was excellent on the high pressured dummy grid. Often nerves and anxieties would surface as belligerent behaviour, but Jean had the measure of them all and dished out the right amount of humour for the situation. We shall miss them both very much and wish Pip and Jean a very happy retirement in Spain.

Welcome to:

John Felix, Senior championship clerk

We welcome John Felix as our Chief Clerk. John is the MSA’s most senior Clerk and is Chairman of the MSA’s Clerk of the Course and Stewards Training Group and we are delighted that he joins us this season. As an International Clerk, John’s experience is quite astonishing Clerking from Karts to Trucks and even Formula 1! John has been involved with karting for over 20 years and is looking forward to joining the Championship.

Terry Bateman, Deputy Clerk

Terry Bateman, Deputy Clerk and assistant to John Felix is another racer, mainly gearbox karts. A Clerk for over 17 years and a National A Clerk for over 12 years. Terry is also an MSA ARKS instructor/Examiner and even made time to found the Long Circuit Racing Kart Club at Darley Moor -and still runs it today. We extend a warm welcome into the FKS Team.

Geoff Strong, Judical Clerk

Geoff Strong has visited the Championship in the past but in the guise of MSA Steward. He joins the Championship as Judicial Clerk. Geoff is also a successful racer and has a wide and varied experience of Clerking. Geoff will be the office based Clerk, leaving the other Clerks on track to keep an eye on proceedings while he deals with anything sent in by them. We welcome Geoff into the Championship.
