Formula Kart Stars are delighted to confirm that Ellough Park Raceway will host the final two rounds of the 2010 Formula Kart Stars Championship on October 15th-17th.
The 1050-metre Suffolk venue will replace PFI as the host of rounds eleven and twelve of the 2010 season on the same weekend that FKS was due to visit the home of Trent Valley Kart Club.
“I’m extremely pleased that we can confirm Ellough Park as a part of our 2010 calendar,” says FKS series director Carolynn Hoy. “The track will provide a tremendous challenge for our drivers and I’m hugely impressed with the amount of work the track have done to upgrade the facilities.”
In addition to a track extension and new on-site kart shop, the circuit staff at Ellough are working feverishly on new dummy grids, a CIK-standard parc ferme area and scrutineering buildings but Hoy says it wasn’t just the improved facilities that impressed her.
“Everyone at the track was very welcoming and I can see the massive effort being put in. The whole facility is unrecognisable from when I was last there and I know the club will put on a really special event for us.”
Hoy also expressed disappointment that an agreement could not be reached with PFI.
“I am sorry that we won’t be racing at Trent Valley Kart Club in 2010 especially after our successful event there in 2009 with the BBC Formula One film crew. There are certainly no ill feelings between us. I would certainly like to see FKS return there at some point in the future but it just wasn’t to be this time around.”
