UPDATE : Buckmore qualifier postponed

Event: Buckmore Park Qualifier (Sunday 20 December 2009)

The Buckmore Park qualifier for MSA Cadets has been postponed due to adverse weather: Advice from the Met Office is of further adverse weather and disruption to road travel.

Heavy snow has fallen overnight on the Buckmore Park circuit. Isolated spells have accumulated up to 150mm in surrounding places. Earlier disruption to the road network has eased; however, travel in the area remains affected.

FKS would like to praise the management at Buckmore for showing remarkable preparations for the snow, with clearance equipment pre-arranged and de-icing crystals on hand.

Buckmore is confident of clearing the circuit, with operations continuing through the night if required, although they have closed the circuit today (Friday) in order for staff to concentrate on the clear-up operation.

The Met Office has issued further weather advisories, and current forecasts indicate the likelihood of severe weather during the weekend; heavy snow and freezing overnight temperatures.

Of concern to FKS is the large distances our competitors have to travel in severe weather conditions as are those uncertain conditions on the day of the event itself.

This notice affects only the FKS races, and not the meeting as a whole (which may go ahead.) The FKS Cadet qualification races are part of a larger club meeting run by Buckmore Park Kart Club.

The Buckmore qualifier will now take place as part of the club’s February meeting on Sunday 21 February 2010.

Competitors may either:

  • Refund their race entry fees in full
  • Carry their race entry over to February
  • Transfer their entry to this weekend’s club meeting (if run)

In the latter case, please contact the circuit office as soon as possible: 01634 201562

The amended qualification schedule is now:

Larkhall

17 January 2010

Buckmore Park

21 February 2010

Entry in to the Buckmore qualifier will now re-open. Entries remain open for Larkhall. Competitors wishing to take part in either (or both) qualification meetings have until 13 February 2010 to register with us.

Of the 59 Cadets currently registered for the MSA British Championship, 32 have gained automatically qualification for 2010 leaving 24 places to be awarded at the qualification meetings.

The top 12 drivers finishing in the A-final at Larkhall will gain entry to the MSA British championship, with the remaining 12 places to be decided at Buckmore Park.
